The Community Liaison Officer will coordinate and support the implementation of project activities at the village and community levels, working closely with each of the 14 Village Councils in providing advice and assistance as where required to achieve the expected outcomes of the project; serve as the gateway for Village Councils, communities, landowners, etc, and facilitate the implementation of project activities.
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:
At least a University degree (B.Sc or equivalent) in sociology, social science, planning or related fields;
A minimum of 5 years’ experience in community relations work in development projects in the field of environment, protected areas or biodiversity conservation preferably within the UN system or other development agencies. Broad experience working at the central and local levels in Niue;
Expertise in applying the Community Based Natural Resource Management (CBNRM); good knowledge of biodiversity and ecosystem services in Niue and ability to communicate effectively in high-level discussions.
